The Egyptian Center for Women’s Rights (ECWR)

ECWR is a registered NGO at the Egyptian Ministry of Social Solidarity with a registration no. 5657 in 2004 and in Special Consultative Status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations. Through its work, ECWR has been helping women achieve their rights on different realms; political, economic, and civil. ECWR projects focus on building the capacities of women, lobbying and advocacy for their rights, and contributing to legislations amendment to insure the existence of a fair and just laws. This aims at empowering women and ensuring the alignment with the international conventions on women’s rights ratified by Egypt. Political empowerment for women through increasing their representation in the elected councils, parliament and Local Councils, has been a priority of ECWR since its establishment believing in the notion that the active participation of women in the decision making is the first key step to ensure that women’s voices are heard and hence decisions do not neglect women’s needs.

Position Details

ECWR is looking for a hands-on Junior Legal Assistant to provide support to ECWR senior level management and consultants in providing legal consultation services and conducting research.


The Junior Legal Officer will be responsible for the following;

  • Providing an in-depth analysis of laws and legal regulations
  • Developing and managing the content of Ask My Online Lawyer – online legal consultancy website
  • Respond to the questions, inquires, and comments received through Ask My Online Lawyer website
  • Assist in conducting, revising, and finalizing legal and technical research work
  • Reviewing, proofreading, translating and assisting with any materials, including documents, reports, memos, briefings, presentations, forms, and other items ensuring accuracy and completeness


  • Bachelor Degree in Law in a must
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal)
  • Fluency in both Arabic and English


The accepted applicant will be offered a 3-month internship with a net salary of 2500LE. Based on the performance, the intern will receive a job offer and the salary is negotiable.
