On October 21st 2008 the Egyptian Center for Women’s Rights (ECWR) held a roundtable discussion, "The Absence of a Legal Deterrence and Its Impact on Egyptian Society." This roundtable is part of ECWR’s “Making Our Streets Safer for Everyone” campaign, which began in 2005 and aims to criminalize sexual harassment in Egypt.
