In the light of the continued follow up of the ECWR’s operations room for the referendum on the new Egyptian constitution from gender perspective; ECWR monitored many violations that threaten the safety of the results of the referendum as follows:
Influence Will of the Voters:
- Many of monitors who have permission from the National Council for Human Rights, belong to the Muslim Brotherhood and Salafis persuade the will of female voters to say (Yes) at the Safaya Zaghalal School, Helwan , polling station No 47.
- Veiled women in the line of the female voters to persuade the will of them to say (Yes) at the Primary School of El-Saheed Abdel hafez in El-Monira.
Collective Vote:
- A group of women voted collectively inside AlAbeedein School, polling station No 28, at Mosha, Asuit.
Illegal Removing of the Voting Sheet (Ballot Stuffing):
- The (ballot stuffing “marked Yes”) was used in the Primary School of El-Wady El-Gharby at Abo Hamad area, polling station No 48, El-Sharqaya.
Administrative and Organizational Mistakes:
- After the voters forced the judge inside the Safaya Zaghalal School, Helwan, polling station No 48 to show his ID, They discovered that he is not a judge.
- The judge and the polling workers at The primary and preparatory schools of religious institute for girls and El-Qady school in El-Gharbaya governorate didn’t ask the veiled (niqab) female voters to show their ID.
- There was no woman at El-Shaymaa School in El-Basateen to reveal of the identity of veiled (niqab) female voters. So, the judge refused to cast their votes before be sure of their identity. Some of them accepted and casted their votes while the others didn’t and left without casting their votes.
- Most of female voters left without casting their votes in The School of Abass El-Aqad , Nasr City due to severe overcrowding in the lines of female voters that led to the slow in the electoral process.
- There were non-stamped ballots in Ibn El-Nafees School in the Nasr City although the judge was informed, but he paid no attention.
- Although the extending of the voting period to 11:00 pm, the following polling stations were closed at 7:00 pm. the polling stations no 18 &19 at the Azhari institute at Manqabad village, the polling stations no 5 &15 at Magress village, the polling stations no 3 at El-Baroud villageat Sadfa area, the polling stations no 11 &16 at El-Badary district, Asuit.
Assaults the female voters:
- Police officer assaulted one of the female activists during her monitoring the referendum. He filed a report against her by the judge and accused her obstructing the referendum because she asked about a copy of the constitution. The incident happened in the preparatory Saraya El-Qoba School for girls, Cairo.
