In an unprecedented event, the minister of interior invited a number of human rights experts to consult them about the dispersal of Raba’a and El Nahda sit-ins. The experts warned him from the great risks of losses in lives on the internal national level as well as the international level. On the national level and despite the public pressure on the ministry, the collective conscience of Egypt will not bear the fall of the hundreds of victims because of the dispersal of sit-ins and will turn directly to the government. On the international level, this will be an excuse to resort to the International Criminal Court, so it is necessary to exhaust all methods of negotiation and try to form a mission to investigate the violations that are being circulated from inside the sit-ins and to open the door of negotiations with the Muslim Brotherhood, but the Muslim Brotherhood did not cooperate with the negotiators; however the negotiators were attacked by the protestors who welcomed international parties.
The situation was frozen over two difficult options ; 1) dispersing the sit-in which has become a criminal spot where Raba’a’s residents became the hostages in addition to using women and children as human shields or 2) Keeping the sit-in as is which shall worsen the situation where the Egyptians shall lose their confidence in the ability of the state to protect them and becomes subject to threats of the Brotherhood leaders, which weakens the state and encourages the Muslim Brotherhood in attacking them. The Egyptian human rights experts’ advice was to abide by the rules which shall achieve safety for everyone. Of these advices were that; 1) the dispersal should take place during the day time, 2) call on the protestors to evacuate, 3) providing a safe passage so that the protestors and especially the families to collect their belongings and leave, 4) dealing with those who reject to evacuate through the tear gas and water cannons and 5) in case of attacks by the protestors, using weapons while considering the need to exercise the highest degree of self-restraint.
The ministry of interior abided by the rules which minimized the expected losses and made the Brotherhood miss an opportunity of sparking seas of blood in order to play the role of the victim and running to the American ally as well as the international courts. The ministry of interior passed the exam and escaped the Brotherhood’s trap where the number of the victims was less than the number of the fingers of one hand till the semi-final completion of dispersing the sit-in.
After the collapse of the plan of using human rights, the brotherhood directed their efforts to the political plan through expanding the violence circles and creating a bloody scene to antagonize the Americans and the Europeans to move the United Nations and the Security Council against Egypt, unless the Brotherhood realizes that the international rules of the political game have changed thanks to the Egyptians and their revolution. America is no longer the only player in the international scene, as the balance has come back to the globe, so if America, France and Britain have decision-making positions in the United Nations; Russia and China are supporting the will of Egyptians can block their decision against Egypt in the United Nations through the same mechanism.
What the brotherhood did not realize as well is that the Egyptian people are attentive and due to the brotherhood’s foolishness, the Egyptians have discovered the third party/hand. Even the Copts (Egyptian Christians) who sacrifice their lives considered their churches an appropriate sacrifice to save Egypt. As per the heroes of the ministry of interior, the Egyptian people surrounded them and defended them in many areas like what happened in El Warraq, where I was born, when the criminal Muslim Brotherhood elements wanted to burn the police station, the residents saved the Sheriff and other police station employees who rejected the residents’ intervention to rescue them and seek martyrdom instead, but the residents insisted on getting them out of the police station and securing them. One of the residents told me “it was better if the ministry of interior closed the police station, as they were targeted” and another response thought that “the police station’s staff whom we insisted on getting out of the police station would not have accepted leaving the police station and the residents, as their military code of ethics and honor is what made them resist the rescue and prefer death”
The Brotherhood will know that in any path they take, they have written their end by their own hands and any attempt to drag Egyptians to a civil war or to drag the world to a war against Egypt will not succeed. We have succeeded on Jan. 25 to eliminate political despotism and succeeded on June 30 to crack down on traders of religion and Egypt will recover more quickly than they imagined. All of us will rehabilitate the human beings as well as the stones and honor all the martyrs from the police, army, and citizens, as we wrote the certificate of the independence of the Egyptian will by their precious blood.
