Ms. NehadabolKomsan, lawyer and the chairwoman of the Egyptian Center for Women’s Rights (ECWR) , participates in the 60th session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) held in the United Nations Headquarters in New York from 14 to 14 March 2016.
In this session, ECWR participates with paper entitled “Status of Women in Egypt … Previous Challenges and Future Aspirations”. The paper analyzes the status of Egyptian woman over the past five years and what the center is trying to achieve, which includes covers following aspects;
– Political and Civil Rights
– Decision making and participation of women in amending the Constitution
– Economic and social rights

This comes in addition to three both written and oral interventions in three interactive expert panels addressing the following;
– Statement (1): about the participation and multi-stakeholder partnerships for gender-responsive implementation of 2030 Agenda. ECWR shares its experience in creating communication channels between the government and civil society serving the issues that threaten gender equality. This comes in addition to its contribution with ideas and ways to build partnerships with multiple stakeholders.
– Statement (2)about: the Key strategies for gender-responsive implementation of 2030 Agenda. With this regard, ECWR illustrates how its work is associated and proposes some key strategies for the implementation of 2030 Agenda.
– Statement (3) about: The elimination and prevention of all forms of violence against women and girls: data gaps and challenges. ECWR shares its efforts in the elimination of all forms of violence against women, especially sexual harassment. ECWR focuses not only on the field work, but it also devotes part of its annual report on the status of women to share accurate data based on its field work and documentation in addition to presenting the most effective strategies carried out by ECWR since the year 2013.
ECWR Chairwoman will be meeting with a number of United Nations organizations officials and a number of international bodies concerned with women’s rights.
