(Cairo, 22 November 2011) On November 22nd 2011 Egypt witnessed one of its greatest days as the Egyptian Society invested all its power in rescuing the revolution from those who have been pretended that they are protecting it, both the Military Council and the political power that didn’t respect the Egyptian people’s sacrificed on January. 25th, 2011.
ECWR feels shocked and the deep sanded about the bloody events that took place in the past few days and crimes committed by the Authority, which have been described as serious human rights violations against 30 martyrs and 1700 injured. However, ECWR hold that inspire of the gravity of these events, the revolution has been on the right path towards democratic.
ECWR strongly condemns the brutal practices against the protestors and the targeted media professionals.
ECWR demands the following:
First: the Military Council, as a ruler of Egypt, should immediately take political responsibility for these crimes.
Second: Form a neutral committee to immediately investigate all crimes that have been
committed against protestors’ including physical and verbal violence, as well as incitement. Those responsible should be held accountable.
Third: Immediately cancel the military trails of the civilians and release all those who have been arrested or detained in political reasons.
Fourth: Respond to the legitimate demands of the Tahrir Square protestors and develop a
process for the democratic transition with a clear timetable.
