{"id":6703,"date":"2015-12-08T09:30:02","date_gmt":"2015-12-08T07:30:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ecwronline.org\/?p=6703"},"modified":"2024-09-16T09:48:35","modified_gmt":"2024-09-16T09:48:35","slug":"ecwr-won-the-euro-mediterranean-womens-foundation-prize-for-advocacy-and-policy-dialogue-in-the-promotion-for-womens-rights","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ecwronline.org\/?p=6703&lang=ar","title":{"rendered":"ECWR won the Euro-Mediterranean Women\u2019s Foundation prize for advocacy and policy dialogue in the promotion for women&#8217;s rights"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The Egyptian Center for Women&#8217;s Rights (ECWR) won the Euro-Mediterranean<br \/>\nWomen\u2019s Foundation prize for advocacy and policy dialogue in the promotion<br \/>\nfor women&#8217;s rights<\/strong><br \/>\n<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>In recognition of its efforts in defending the women\u2019s rights, the Egyptian<br \/>\nCenter for Women&#8217;s Rights (ECWR) has been awarded as one of the most<br \/>\ninfluential NGOs in the southern Mediterranean countries in the field of<br \/>\nadvocacy for women&#8217;s rights. ECWR\u2019s project \u201cSafe Street for All: Campaign<br \/>\nAgainst Sexual Harassment in Egypt\u201d was chosen as one of the most successful<br \/>\npractices in the field of advocacy and political dialogue aiming at<br \/>\nsupporting the role of women in the society.<\/p>\n<p>ECWR started this project in 2005 to counter the phenomenon of sexual<br \/>\nharassment. The issue of sexual harassment at that time was still very<br \/>\nsensitive. However ECWR has been determined on drawing the public attention<br \/>\non the issue. This was done through two major research studies:<\/p>\n<p>First under the title: Sexual Harassment, the Social Cancer<\/p>\n<p>The second under the title: Clouds in Egypt\u2019s Sky<\/p>\n<p>Both the studies were shocking for the society and decision-makers. This<br \/>\nresulted in many organizations and individuals joining the campaign. The<br \/>\ncampaign extended to cover many other Arab countries both inside and outside<br \/>\nthe southern Mediterranean area.<\/p>\n<p>This recognition comes as part of  CSO WINS Project, run by the<br \/>\nNeighbourhood Civil Society Facility of the European Neighbourhood and<br \/>\nPartnership Instrument of the European Union (Euro-Mediterranean Women\u2019s<br \/>\nFoundation), to support the exchange of the experiences and lessons learned<br \/>\namong civil society organizations in the southern Mediterranean countries.<br \/>\nThis will in turn help NGOs build networks and alliances to entrench the<br \/>\nprinciple of gender equality in various fields through organizing activities<br \/>\nand events gathering many other civil society organizations that are both<br \/>\nbased in the southern Mediterranean and working in the field of gender<br \/>\nequality.<\/p>\n<p>ECWR representatives will attend the workshop that will be held in Morocco<br \/>\nnext April as a celebration for the award and to present ECWR\u2019s project<br \/>\n\u201cSafe Street for All: Campaign Against Sexual Harassment in Egypt\u201d.
