Nehad AboelKomsan Joins High-Level Workshop on Integrating Women’s Issues into Legislation

Ms. Nehad AboelKomsan, Cassation Lawyer, international expert on human and women’s rights, and Chairwoman of the Egyptian Center for Women’s Rights, took part in the high-level regional workshop organized by the Arab Women Organization in cooperation with the Ministry of Social Affairs, Childhood, and Family of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania. The event took place from May 19 to 21, 2025, under the high patronage of the First Lady of Mauritania, Dr. Mariem Fadel Dah, a member of the Supreme Council of the Arab Women Organization, and in the presence of Dr. Fadia Kiwan, Director-General of the Organization.

Ms. AboelKomsan moderated the opening session of the workshop and delivered a keynote address on the integration of gender issues into public policies and legislation, highlighting Arab and international experiences in achieving gender justice and linking them to the Sustainable Development Goals.

The workshop was marked by the participation of a distinguished group of experts from the Maghreb countries and concluded with a set of recommendations and a national roadmap aimed at promoting women’s empowerment through inclusive legislation that upholds human rights and equal opportunities.
