At the conclusion of the “Breaking the Cycle of Violence” campaign, launched by the Egyptian Center for Women’s Rights (ECWR) in cooperation with the French Embassy in Cairo, which began on November 25, 2024, and lasted for three months, ECWR reaffirms its firm commitment to continuing its efforts toward a safe society free from all forms of violence and discrimination against women.
The “Breaking the Cycle of Violence” campaign aimed to create real change in the lives of women and society as a whole by raising awareness of the various forms of violence against women and highlighting the serious consequences that extend to both women and the broader community. The campaign also sought to empower survivors of violence and provide them with the necessary legal support to help them reclaim their rights and break free from cycles of abuse.
The campaign’s efforts were not limited to awareness-raising and support; it also encouraged active community participation in combating violence against women. This stems from the belief that addressing this issue requires the collective efforts of society as a whole. We have worked diligently to contribute to building a community grounded in mutual respect and appreciation for women’s rights—one that rejects all forms of violence and discrimination.
The campaign activities were reflected in an intensive social media awareness effort, through the publication of powerful short videos and interactive posters designed to reach the widest possible audience. In addition, ECWR provided free legal consultations for women survivors of violence to support them in claiming their rights and breaking the cycles of violence they face.
The campaign yielded tangible results. The campaign’s videos and posters shared across social media platforms garnered nearly 2,000,000 views. Furthermore, 2,554 free legal consultations were provided to women suffering from violence, who reached out to ECWR for support and assistance.
In conclusion, ECWR reaffirm our commitment to continuing our efforts to combat violence against women. We will strive to expand the reach of our campaigns to benefit as many women as possible, until we achieve a society free from violence, where all individuals live in peace and equality.
