The Egyptian Center for Women’s Rights (ECWR) broadcasts a new episode of the online training on “How To Live happily?!” The second episode was titled “Men’s role to End Violence Against Women”
Nehad AbulKomsan, the presenter of the course, stated that the goal is to live a good, happy, and enjoyable life in a safe environment.
Abulkomsan emphasized that the pyramid of human needs begins with a sense of security, to which there four factors are required; beginning with economic partnership, negotiation and justice, non-threatening behavior, and respect.
Abulkomsan goes on to explain that equality is essential for happy, balanced relationships and is based on 4 pillars: Shared responsibility, accountability, trust and support.
The shared responsibility is having joint participation of all burdens and responsibilities, especially the household burdens. Shared responsibility for children is meant to make the children feel that they are of great importance to both the father and the mother as it strengthens the sense of parenthood among men.
As for accountability, it is the admission making mistakes apologizing that strengthens the bonds of relationships, especially within the family. And trust and support is the promise to the other party that we support them even if we differ from their views.
Nehad showed an example of a successful family based on participation and continuous support. The episode ended with the presentation of a video about an episode of “Because I Am a Man” that was produced by the United Nations, which aims to break traditional patterns in family relationships.
